Service and Outreach

“The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.”   Proverbs 11:25
The Fairview United Methodist Church is committed to serving the local community and world.  Our Mission and Outreach Team looks for people and places needing support in many ways.  To that end we seek to be involved in caring for school children around the block and around the globe; those who are hungry, homeless or in need of spiritual guidance; victims of natural disasters and domestic violence; and whatever ways we hear God calling us.  We strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a hurting world.

Here are a number of projects we support:
FOOD PANTRY April of 2013, our church started a “food pantry” for some families in our community. The continued success of this program is totally dependant on us.  We will continue to need food items every week, even during the summer months. Please help us help others with your contributions! Takes places 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month, 4-5:30pm and 1st and 3rd Wednesdays 11:30-12:30. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to closing!
Ugly Quilt Ministry.  This group meets in the Bouton Room every Monday afternoon from 2:30 – 4:30. We turn donated fabric into sleeping bags which are given to the homeless.  There is no sewing knowledge/skill required. Diaper Bank. We know that diapers can be expensive!  So in 2021 we decided to start a diaper bank in addition to our food pantry for those who need help with this vital necessity.  We are always accepting donations.  The bank is open on first Wednesdays 11:30a-12:30p along with the food pantry.
Rescue Mission Dinners – once a month we serve dinner at Whitney Place -sign up to help in the narthex.  For questions, call Sue 724-5084.
Christmas in August [school supplies for neighborhood children]
Blanket the World in Love [Blanket Sunday]
School kits, Health kits, and Birthing kits for Haiti.
Throughout the year, additional ongoing ministries include pajama donations to the Children’s Home, Winter Clothes Line, School Supply Collection for Calvin Coolidge school, and the Blessing Box.
If you are interested in getting involved with any of these projects, please contact the church office at 607-724-6886

In addition to these projects we also raise money to donate to UMCOR, the humanitarian relief agency of The United Methodist Church

We would love to have you join us as we serve others!
